Brief description of the P.h.D project:
Assessing the welfare of farm animals kept in cage-free systems is the main goal of my PhD project. Focus of my work are specific positive welfare indicators applied to calves kept in dairy farms that advocate high welfare standards and added ethical value through promoting species-specific behaviours in enriched and stable social environments.
