The activities could be divided into four fields:
- A - Basic; B - Soft skills: research organization and communication; C - Research quantitative methods; D - Individual learning activities; S - Other seminars/courses
Compulsory activities for Vet Science PhD Students (first year: the students must attend 4 courses to be chosen from those lister below and the course "Health and Safety work"; second year: the students must attend the 4 courses not attendend during the first year):

- Basic Statistics (2 ECTS)

- Research ethics and animals (Barbara De Mori) - see calendar for XL cycle
- Dissemination of science: contents and tools (1.5 ETCS)

Computer science - Statistics
- Applied Statistics with Applications in R (2 ECTS)
- Advanced Statistics with R: Experimental Design in Lab and Field (1.5 ECTS)
- Advanced Statistics with R: Mixed models Introduction to GIS (1.5 ECTS)
- Spatial Statistics (2 ECTS)
- Introduction to Machine learning and its application to Veterinary Science (1 ECTS)
Cross-curricular training activities and soft skills
Research management, knowledge of research systems and financing programs
- Data collection: from questionnaires to participatory approaches (2ECTS)
- How to prepare and present a scientific paper (1.5 ECTS)
- Writing in social media for scientific dissemination (1 ECTS)
