Brief description of the P.h.D. project:

My project involves the development of a platform for the characterisation of the pandemic potential of influenza A viruses. The primary focus of this study is the examination of low-pathogenicity avian influenza viruses, a subject which is under-researched and in need of further study. The project involves the conducting of both in vivo and in vitro studies. The objective of the project is to ascertain the potential role of mustelids, such as farmed minks, as a bridge host for influenza viruses from avian species to humans.
